Wicked runs into the opposite problem: it has a great plot, but too often the songs just get in the way. Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel of the same name, Wicked tells us what happened between Glinda the Good and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, before Dorothy showed up in Oz. … |

Each Artist Creates A Different Picture
The ear is met with soft blues music and scratching sounds. In a circle, seventeen artists use their media, pencils, pastels, and paint, to make their own versions of the same subject. The subject is a dance instructor dressed in workout clothes, sitting in the middle of the circle with her head tilted slightly upward.
Some artists are taken away by her upswept hair and graceful features. Others sketch her body and limbs, using either definite, precise lines or faint strokes augmented by shading. A Crystal Lake painter has chosen to superimpose watercolor outlines of the model's various poses across one page, creating the illusion of movement. The group's weekly sessions give this landscape artist a chance to try out new techniques and enhance her figure drawing abilities. If you enjoy paintings articles like this one, visit oil painting from photo for other resources.
Musicians know they must practice with their instruments, but few people realize that artists must do the same in their own medium. Studying her painting, the artist says she really likes how it turned out. When a portrait connects with a viewer through the subject's face and figure, it is deemed great, but greatness in art is rather random, attacking during practice or after long hours of study.
The business world claimed one of their colleagues for twenty years, and two years she returned with a greater passion for portraits than ever. For her, portraits have always stood out. Given canvas, she draws what the subject feels. Using what most would consider clashing color combinations of dark green, blue, yellow and white she is able to capture the regalness of the model.
To artists, the face is more than its overt colors. Lights create warm or cool tones that add depth to the painting. Renoir was acclaimed for this technique, which she has always wanted to try. Artists working on commission request either a live sitting or a photograph. Though most prefer the convenience of photographs, the artist can best capture the subject's personality with a live sitting. The challenge is expressing personality on canvas. Personality pops surprisingly and fleetingly. She does not dwell on recreating one's likeness, but she still does a good job of it. Her paintings are better, she feels, when she can express the subject's inner beauty. Articles on paintings like this can be viewed at oil paintings of children.
When working on a commission, the artist must work within the parameters set by the patron. In addition, the artist should not be afraid to use striking colors to highlight the subject.

So Written to Aftertimes: Renaissance England's Poetics of Futurity. $82.8 New - Poetics of Futurity investigates Renaissance literary constructions of the future, the complex relations between futurity and narrative, and the emergence of novel accounts of Englishness that turn on looking to the future rather than the past. I revise an image of poets lamenting their estrangement from the ancient world by showing that an engagement with classical culture transformed the way literary artists looked ahead, and enabled them to imagine what kind of past their present would |
