Artists Of The Century $9.99 By many accounts, Enrico Caruso is the greatest tenor of all time. This collection of popular arias performed by the master himself goes a long way toward proving his right to the title.Fortunate enough to have his career peak at the same time as recording became a feasible method of preserving his performance, Caruso made more than 250 recordings in his lifetime. The 42 selections in this collection illustrate the tenor’s great versatility and personality. Presented in chronological order (with the exception of his very first recording, which appears near the end of the second disc), CARUSO–THE GREATEST TENOR IN THE WORLD tracks his legacy from the peak of his popularity to the end of his career.Despite the early dates of these recordings, digital remastering has made them quite palatable by contemporary standards. Caruso’s voice rings through with surprising clarity. His voice is one of the greatest instruments of the 20th century. This anthology of his career is a vital archive of music history and is an important addition to any music library, particularly for lovers of opera and vocal performance. |

Animation is probably one of the biggest examples of teamwork in the artistic world. The production process resembles a sort of assembly line. The director/creator dreams up an idea, and then the cartoon goes through pre-production, production, post-production and then release.
One of the key positions in this process is the designer. These people assist in creating the look of a project, from overall appearance to specifics about the characters. They work hand in hand with the director; often a former designer. Without his initial drawings, the project never gets off the ground, period.
One thing the industry has found is all designers love to draw. They have done so when they were children; imitating their favorite children’s stories or cartoons. Another thing they get good at is imitating what they love; then they start to come up with their own ideas.
What differentiates a designer from many of his/her fellow animators is they aren’t restricted to just animation. One of Disney’s greatest designers, Mary Blair, actually had a background in children’s illustration, and learned from her husband, who worked for Uncle Walt. Yet she never really did any animation herself. Still, these days it actually helps if a designer does take animation courses while getting a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts at a brick-and-mortar or online college. With this knowledge they will better understand the process.
Still, what sets the top animation designer from those who do other forms of graphic design is a fundamental understanding about one important element of cartooning. The work of an animation designer is known for its linear simplicity. The reason for this is this way an animator can quickly pick up and start replicating whatever the designer thinks up with ease.
While at school, whether it’s an online college or on campus facility, one other thing a designer has to assemble is a demo reel (or now disk) along with their portfolio. The portfolio will display one’s best designs. The reel shows how they work when animated. This is in many cases even more critical than one’s resume as it gives directors the ability to actually see what the person can do.
From there, one’s first job at a studio will be as an assistant to an animator. The animation world is a small one, and those with talent quickly are pointed out. From there, the goal is to become a full animator. Then, if one’s work proves to be exceptional, some director will ask the animator to generate some original designs. If the director likes them, he’ll ask for more. The goal is to build a rep as a designer, then on to something like art director, storyboard or even director/creator.
There’s one very important thing all animation designers should know about their field, and that is when the project is over, so is the job. Still, animators make about $65,000 a year, depending on where and what industry they work for. Designers make more. Fortunately, thanks to the skills learned in courses online programs and the incredible growth of the Internet and video gaming, which all need animation, the number of animators - and therefore designers - is growing at a very steady pace. Those with Online Database Technology Degrees may even find their talents take them in unexpected directions!

So Written to Aftertimes: Renaissance England's Poetics of Futurity. $82.8 New - Poetics of Futurity investigates Renaissance literary constructions of the future, the complex relations between futurity and narrative, and the emergence of novel accounts of Englishness that turn on looking to the future rather than the past. I revise an image of poets lamenting their estrangement from the ancient world by showing that an engagement with classical culture transformed the way literary artists looked ahead, and enabled them to imagine what kind of past their present would |
