MTV Unplugged in New York $4.68 The last Nirvana collection recorded before the untimely death of Kurt Cobain, Unplugged caught many by surprise with its stripped down, neo-acoustic offerings with a bridled fury. When Cobain sings, “I swear I don’t have a gun, I don’t have a gun” with clenched teeth (instead of an open howl) and when the haunting strains of “About a Girl”–from their earliest LP–chills even with quieted guitars… |
NoPayPOKER Free Poker Online Games: Coaching, Bankroll Tips To Save You A Fortune, And What Poker Games Not To Play
This new free online poker planning lesson looks at how you should approach bankroll management when you play poker online for real cash rather than free poker online tournaments and ring games. The same principles apply to free poker and if you are new to the game then free online poker sites are ideal places to practice bankroll management but the focus here is on cash games where how well you manage your bankroll is the difference between solvent and broke.
Bankroll Basics
Lets start by defining bankrolls. Your bankroll is the money you have in your poker gaming account. It's a fact of poker that now and again you will suffer a series of bad beats, therefore you need to have a bankroll that is big enough, in relative terms to the games you play to keep you afloat and able to play when you get hit by a run of bead beats. The key is to be realistic with the amount that you can bring on a table per game. Do not play beyond your means because it is the best method of accumulating frustration and lose even more.
Bankroll Objectives
Growing your bankroll is your main objective. The mistake that some players made is to enroll often in tournaments they cannot really afford. The prize money in the multi-table tournaments are often very interesting. The big temptation is that if you win your bankroll shoots up, unfortunately this is a rare event! What is more likely is that you will lose your bankroll really fast. Then, with no money you will be stuck doing very small freerolls in order to get back again and that is a long and boring road.
Bankroll Principles
At most you should risk 5% in Cash Game tables and no more than 2% on Buy In at Sit n Go and Multi-table tournaments. When you stick to these percentage rules, as long as you play a solid game your bankroll will increase slowly but steadily. The mistake many make is to try and go too far too fast by risking too much of a percentage, they lose (which is more often than not in poker) and the bankroll gets cleaned out before it can be replenished.
It's a fact that it is impossible to win every game. That's why when things do not go well at all, it is preferable to stop play for 1 hour and do something else. By the time to get back game situation may have changed and be in your favor. Focus on leaving negativity aside, anger or frustration in poker games is a sure way to lose it all. The other players will know quickly that you are vulnerable and will not hesitate to take advantage of this weakness.
Cash Game:
The main game many play is the Cash table. Cash games can sometimes be long and boring and we can find different types of players at them. We must know how to adapt to each of these players in hopes of winning out as often as possible. Overall cash games will pay you more money in the long term than tournaments. The key to them is not winning big but winning often.
Even if you only scalp a small win the key is to leave with a profit. In cash games you will find that your funds go up and down slowly so it is essential to be disciplined. Never risk more than 5% of your cash in a cash game. If you want to play on 2 tables, take 2.5% of your funds at most for each table. Playing on more than 2 table is not recommended because you will start to play your cards without real focus on the game of your opponents.
Sit n Go:
Sit n go's (SNGs) can be good earners when you play the right type. Find tournaments where there are large stacks and the play is normal speed, by this I mean Blinds increase every ten minutes or so. These tournaments will let you see more pre-flop so you can play only the good hands. In games like Turbo's where the Blinds go up fast luck becomes a bigger factor more than strategy and relying on luck means you are gambling and gambling is not good business. If you play with luck then you may as well just play roulette.
Multi-Table:
Multi-table tournaments look very attractive but most players will go away having taken a loss. Luck can sometimes be on your side but it is best not to abuse it because in this kind of tournament as you will learn, your money can go down quickly. The variance (swings of fortune basically) is too high, I advise you not to risk your money on them. Perhaps play them every now and then if you feel luck is with you but just for fun using a small amount, perhaps 1%.
Important Tips:
The primary rule is always to have some fun. Poker is mostly a game of luck blended with probability, few things are guaranteed. When you have no fun, you better stop for a moment, your money is not going to run away. It is best to reload mentally before reloading monetarily. And rehearse your bankroll management on free poker sites and exploit all the free poker experience you'll find there, this can help your massively when you're playing for real money.
