An Increasing Of Women Are Opting For Cosmetic Surgery As They Try To Copy Their Favourite Celebrities, But What Specifically Is Involved And Is It Really Worth It?

Vanity can have an influence on most women at some time in their life and a lot of women during virtually their entire life. The fashion and beauty industries spend huge amounts of money on advertising every year just trying to make people believe that their clothing or make-up products will help them to look perfect, and then make a massive amount of profit because so many people buy into that concept.

As is very obvious, the world of fashion mostly seems to think that all women should be skinny as a rake and creates its outfits accordingly. Due to this, most women who attempt to keep apace of current styles end up looking far worse than they would do if they believed in their own feelings as to what looks great on them and what doesn’t.

Failing to look good in the latest catwalk designs inevitably leads to women seeking out yet another diet. There are ridiculous statistics about the huge number of women who are permanently ‘on a diet’. Of course, it makes good sense to eat a healthy and balanced mixture of foods, but permanently striving to starve yourself by means of one fad diet or another doesn’t really achieve much in the long term.

Many women also seem to feel that there is a problem with having light coloured skin, as the passion for sunbed bookings or fake tans shows, and this is surely fuelled by the looks of those female celebrities who countless women see as the look to aspire to. I can understand people wanting to dye their hair alternative colours, whether it be to disguise a few grey hairs, because they are not happy with their natural colour or just because they fancy a bit of a change. Altering your hair colour is the same kind of thing as applying polish to fingernails in my opinion. But I don’t pretend to understand the desperation to darken skin colour, unless it occurs naturally (and sensibly!) from being outdoors in nice weather.

The need to look good can often become enough of an obsession that surgery to alter parts of the body becomes the next thing to explore. This type of surgery is mostly done privately in the UK and can be expensive. The sorts of treatment available include processes such as reducing excess fat, straightening a crooked nose, botox to get rid of the amount of wrinkles, Laser eye surgery to improve vision so that glasses don’t have to be worn, breast enlargement or reduction, chemical peels to make skin look healthier and many and various other treatments.

Obviously, there are a small number of cases where a range of these operations are undertaken for the sake of the person’s health. A crooked nose could cause breathing problems, a vision defect may benefit from Laser eye treatment especially if the patient has an employment opportunity which makes using glasses or contact lenses problematic or unsafe, a breast reduction may be suggested for a patient with back problems.

It goes without saying that some of the above mentioned operations, such as Laser eye surgery, are used regularly to treat proper health defects as well as pandering to a woman’s vanity, but the same cannot be said for some of them. In reality many surgical processes which are now described as almost exclusively cosmetic were originally conceived to treat health problems and have subsequently been adopted as some of the quickest and easiest, albeit costly, ways to embellish your looks.

The difficulty is though, as people get older it becomes increasingly obvious if cosmetic surgery has been done. Consider the many more mature film stars you watch and immediately assume that they must have had work done in order to continue to look that good. It seems a bit unfair on those who are healthy enough to still look great without surgical treatment that a lot of people will inevitably presume that they have had treatment, simply because many people do!

There seems little chance that such a fixation with looking perfect will stop at any time in the near future, as increasingly unrealistic role models appear for women to try to look like. But it is important to bear in mind how much time and money it would take to go through all of the varied surgical enhancements, Laser eye treatment, chemical skin peel, extensive dentistry work and more. On the other hand, you could just start to love yourself as you are.
