An Increasing Of Women Are Choosing Cosmetic Surgery In An Attempt To Imitate Their Favourite Celebrities, But What Exactly Is Involved And Is It Really Worth It?

Vanity can have an influence on most women at some stage of their life and many women through virtually their whole life. The fashion and beauty industries invest massive amounts of money on advertising every year just trying to make people think that their clothing or beauty products will ensure they look perfect, and then make a massive amount of profit because the majority of people buy into that ideal.

Of course, the world of fashion mostly seems to suggest that all women should be size zero and makes its clothing accordingly. Because of this, many females who attempt to keep up with current trends end up looking a lot worse than they might do if they believed in their own feelings as to what looks great on them and what doesn’t.

Never being able to look good in the latest catwalk designs inevitably leads to women trying out yet another diet. There are outrageous statistics about the vast amount of women who are constantly ‘on a diet’. Naturally, it makes great sense to eat a healthy and balanced combination of foods, but always trying to starve yourself by way of one fad diet or another doesn’t generally achieve much over a given period of time.

Many women also seem to believe that there is something wrong with having untanned skin, as the fixation with sunbed bookings or fake tans shows, and this is surely fuelled by the looks of those female celebrities who many women see as the look to aspire to. I can comprehend why people might dye their hair different colours, whether it be to disguise a few grey strands, because they don’t like their natural colour or just because they fancy a bit of a change. Changing your hair colour is similar to applying polish to fingernails as far as I’m concerned. But I don’t pretend to understand the desperation to alter skin colour, unless it happens naturally (and sensibly!) from whilst doing things in the open air in nice weather.

The desire to look good frequently becomes a big enough obsession that surgery to alter parts of the body becomes the next option to investigate. This type of surgery is usually done outside of the NHS in the UK and can be a costly experience. The kinds of treatment available include procedures such as removing excess fat, remodelling a crooked nose, botox to lessen the amount of wrinkles, Laser eye surgery to correct vision so that glasses don’t have to be worn, breast enlargement or reduction, chemical peels to make skin look healthier and a long list of other treatments.

Obviously, there are a small number of cases where a few of these operations are undertaken for the sake of the patient’s health. A crooked nose could cause breathing problems, a sight defect may be cured by Laser eye treatment especially if the patient has a job which makes wearing glasses or contact lenses difficult or risky, a breast reduction may be considered for a patient with back pains.

It goes without saying that some of the above mentioned procedures, such as Laser eye surgery, are used regularly to correct proper health defects as well as pandering to an individual’s vanity, but that cannot be said for many of them. It is fair to say that many procedures processes which are now thought of as almost exclusively cosmetic were originally conceived to solve health problems and have subsequently been employed as some of the quickest and easiest, albeit pricey, ways to embellish your looks.

The thing is though, as people age it becomes more and more obvious if cosmetic surgery has been carried out. Remember the many elderly film stars you look at and immediately assume that they must have had work done in order to continue to look that good. It seems a bit unfair on those who are lucky enough to still look great without surgical treatment that some people will inevitably assume that they have had work done, simply because many people do!

There seems little likelihood that such a craze for looking perfect will decrease any time soon, as ever more unrealistic role models appear for women to try to look like. But it is vital to remember how much time and money it would take to go through all of the various surgical enhancements, Laser eye treatment, chemical skin peel, comprehensive dentistry work and more. On the other hand, you could just begin to love yourself as you are.
