Jewelry Boxes For Women: Brilliant Collections in the Royal Family

Jewelry has always been an essential part of the royal families world over. The queens and princesses of every generation had a number of heirlooms to pass down. Of all the royal families around, the British royal family's jewelry boxes for women held the most gorgeous collections.

The spotlight has always been on Princess Diana all through her life and now even in her death. She had some pieces of jewelry that were always preferred over others. These came as gifts to her from several other members of the royal family. She wore The Queen Mary tiara often.

Among her favorites were also an emerald and diamond choker. Her other prized possession was a massive sapphire set into a brooch and which she later converted to a pearl choker. The royal family has a number of pieces that came down the generations.

In 1820, The George IV State diadem was made and this had 1333 diamonds as well as 169 pearls placed on its base. Queen Victoria and Elizabeth II both wore this at their coronations. The Russian Fringe Tiara is a piece of royal jewelry owned by George III. Several Queens Consorts wore this till Queen Victoria finally converted it to a tiara.

The Queen Mary Fringe Tiara was made especially for Queen Mary in 1919. These were created from diamonds belonging to George III and some that were used from the tiara of Queen Victoria. There is quite a history to this piece as it was passed down from Princess Elizabeth to Princess Anne.

Queen Mary bought the Vladimir Tiara in 1921 from the Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia. 15 Cambridge Cabochon emeralds were fitted into this crown. Elizabeth II's grandmother bequeathed this to her and it is only worn with the Cambridge and the Delhi Durbar Parure. Elizabeth the II wore this tiara for her official photograph as the Queen of Canada.

It was in 1973 that Elizabeth II ordered the Burmese Ruby Tiara. The design by Garrard & Co. was in the form of a wreath of roses. The roses were designed in clusters along with rubies and gold for the center of the flower as well as petals of diamonds and silver. A total of 96 diamonds sourced from Elizabeth's own private collection were used in the creation of this piece in addition to rubies and the diamonds. The people of Burma gifted the rubies to her on her wedding day and that is how the name came about.

There are several diamonds cut in different ways that make up The King George VI Chandelier Earrings. They are finished with 3 sets of diamonds cut in every conceivable way. Her parents gifted Princess Elizabeth these. The Queen Anne and Queen Caroline Pearl Necklaces collectively are worth around £4,000,000. Each of them is a row of massive graduated pearls with pearl clasps. This necklace is believed to be a part of Queen Anne’s collection.

The royal family collections are gorgeous and will definitely go down in the records of history. Having imitation jewelry just like it can be quite thrilling.

"The books line up on my shelf like bright Bodhisattvas ready to take tough questions or keep quiet company. They stake out a vast territory, with works from two millennia in multiple genres: aphorism, lyric, epic, theater, and romance." —Willis G. Regier, The Chronicle Review"No effort has been spared to make these little volumes as attractive as possible to readers: the paper is of high quality, the typesetting immaculate. The founders of the series are John and Jennifer Clay, and Sanskritists can only thank them for an initiative intended to make the classics of an ancient Indian language accessible to a modern international audience." —The Times Higher Education Supplement"The Clay Sanskrit Library represents one of the most admirable publishing projects now afoot. . . . Anyone who loves the look and feel and heft of books will delight in these elegant little volumes." —New Criterion"Published in the geek-chic format." —BookForum"Very few collections of Sanskrit deep enough for research are housed anywhere in North America. Now, twenty-five hundred years after the death of Shakyamuni Buddha, the ambitious Clay Sanskrit Library may remedy this state of affairs." —Tricycle"Now an ambitious new publishing project, the Clay Sanskrit Library brings together leading Sanskrit translators and scholars of Indology from around the world to celebrate in translating the beauty and range of classical Sanskrit literature. . . . Published as smart green hardbacks that are small enough to fit into a jeans pocket, the volumes are meant to satisfy both the scholar and the lay reader. Each volume has a transliteration of the original Sanskrit text on the left-hand page and an English translation on the right, as also a helpful introduction and notes. Alongside definitive translations of the great Indian epics — 30 or so volumes will be devoted to the
