Cutting Rhythms

Cutting Rhythms

$39.95

There are many books on the technical aspects of film and video editing: e.g., how to use software packages like Final Cut Pro and Avid. Much rarer are books on how an editor thinks and makes decisions. Faced with hundreds of hours of raw footage, a film editor must craft the pieces into a coherent whole. Rhythm is a fundamental tool of the film editor; when a filmmaker adjust the length of shots in relation to one another, he or she affects the entire pace, structure, and mood of the film. Until this book, rhythm was considered a matter of intuition; good editors should just ‘know’ when to make a cut. Cutting Rhythms breaks down the issue of rhythm in an accessible way that allows filmmakers to apply the principles to their own work and increase their creativity. This book offers possibilities rather than prescriptions. It presents questions  editors or filmmakers can ask themselves about their work, and a clear and useful vocabulary for working with those questions. Filled with timeless principles and thought-provoking examples from a variety of international films, this book is destined to become a staple in the filmmaker’s library. * This is the only book to address the issue of rhythm in film editing. It’s what separates an OK film from a great one! * Easy-to-apply principles that will translate to better work. Don’t just guess where to make a cut–read this book. * Examples from a range of international films show you practical illustrations of the concepts at work.

Corporate Video Production - The Power Behind Video Testimonials - Useful Tips

Video Testimonials are a Sales Tool

In producing corporate videos, testimonials are the strongest tool a video producer can utilize. Clients that don't take advantage of this...and video production companies that don't implement this technique are missing out in creating a video that truly has impact. Think about it...when we talk about another company's work, we're putting ourselves on the line. We're risking our very own reputation by vouching for that person or company. Testimonials are real, authentic...and offer insight to what makes a company or vendor special. As a result, in B2B marketing, a testimonial carries a great deal of clout. 3

Why, What and How

An important factor in taping testimonials are the questions. Make sure that they are open-ended. A yes or no answer won't help you at all. Think about Why, What and How. An occasional follow-up question is a good idea as well. 3

Why did you use this company's services?
Why do you feel strongly about their work?
What type of company are they? Tell me about their integrity...
What was the benefit they brought you?
How did they perform?
How did they make a difference? What was on the line?

Also...and this is extremely important - don't interrupt! Ask your question and then give them room. Even if the individual you're taping seems like they might be at a stopping point...relax and give the person providing the testimonial, room to follow-up on their thoughts. Often what comes next is some of the best content. Also, it's important that the questions are short and to the point. For more info go to Videos for conferences

Testimonials can be used in a variety of ways. Naturally they're a great tool in marketing videos. But they can also be used on a video testimonial page on a company's website. This is a great method to use because you're giving your visitor or prospect another opportunity to find out more information about your firm. Providing video content in the form of a testimonial creates more interest and can translate into your prospect spending more time on your website. They can also be used in a powerful fashion in e-newsletters. If your company has a monthly newsletter that you send out through Constant Contact or iContact consider what a video testimonial could potentially mean. For example...you're a dentistry, in your monthly email blast you can talk about the services you offer, any type of special you're running, but what would really impact your open rates would be a video testimonial from a happy client! Someone that used your service and as a result improved their life! Text simply cannot compete with video. A video testimonial can communicate the emotion and sincerity that an individual possesses for another company as the result of their good service. For more info go to Videos for Seminars

Testimonials are a powerful key ingredient in producing effective marketing videos. Use them wisely and reap the benefits!
