Even Older People Can Play Video Games
The younger generation seems to be obsessed with playing video games. A child’s house is not complete unless they have the best game system and it does not matter if it is the Nintendo Wii, the Microsoft Xbox 360 kinect, or the Sony Playstation Move, as long as the child has that and some games to play on them, they are happy and able to keep up with all of their friends who also have one of these platforms. But that does not mean that the adults in the home can not play the games too. It is not something to be ashamed of because you still turn a gaming system on after your long day at work supporting your family.
What are some of the reasons an adult can give for enjoying the game systems.
1. The systems bring out the competitor in an individual. As we approach our senior years we are not able to do the things we could when we were younger. Physical activity seems to take more of a toll on us than it used to. It takes longer for us to get from point a to point b. Video games can help a person achieve the feats that they used to achieve as a youngster. It can put the middle aged person on a level playing field with a teenager. It allows a person to recapture some o their youth.
2. The systems can provide an escape from everyday life. Children think that they will be able to achieve some amazing feats that are probably not much more than wishful thinking. With adulthood comes the realization that these dreams are just that, dreams, and are not likely to be realistic to accomplish. The gaming systems can turn us back into the start athlete or the amazing soldier with just a few clicks of a button. The fantasies of our childhood get to be relived.
3. People can get high while playing games. Young and old people alike can enjoy the addictive nature that comes from gaming. Family obligations have left those habits in the past. Playing a game for hours can leave a person feeling like they are hung over from a long night of partying if they are not careful. And it is not illegal to do. It is also not as dangerous to the body.
4. Gaming is distracting. The mundane tasks that we perform daily is not very much fun. You can escape from the normal routine if you turn on the system. A person can put their troubles in another room when they turn on the gaming console. If a person wants they can completely immerse themselves into gaming. Let someone else deal with the other problems for a period of time.
5. Video consoles are not as expensive as people think. Going out as a family is expensive and can be very time consuming and although not everyone can figure our how to get a free xbox 360, the actual cost of the consoles and the games to play on them is much less than a person spends taking the family to a football game or out to the movies every month when you consider the years of entertainment that you get out of the consoles especially with today’s systems that do much more than play games and can actually replace a lot of equipment that many people need in their home anyway.
This list gives several good reasons to be a gamer. Games are good for the young and old alike. But the bottom line of gaming comes down to one main idea. Play the games to have fun. Having fun is always a good reason for people to do things for.
