Describing The People Who Play Video Games
When video games were first introduced the typical gamer was easy to describe. There were several nicknames that could be applied to these groups. They were called nerds. Gamers were the smart kids in the class. They dressed in certain ways. Communicating with them was like talking to an alien. Over the years the image of the gamer has changed. Now it is more difficult to figure out who plays video games if you are in a crowd of people. What type of people are playing video games today?
The first way to describe a gamer is by the system they play on because the people who play are loyal to the console they like to play on whether it is the Xbox kinect, the Playstation Move, The Nintendo Wii, A PC gamer, or someone who plays games on their phones, they system they play on really does not matter except to the individual who is playing on it. Each person has a favorite console that they stand by.
In the beginning, boys dominated the market. That is also not the case in today’s word. It is not unusual to see girls and boys enjoying a video game with each other. No longer are the game systems found in the man cave. They have taken over the living rooms of the world. That has opened them up to people of any gender.
There is also no set age for a gamer. A teenager was usually the most common gaming enthusiast in the past. Arcades were the stomping ground the younger generation if a person recently went to a store for the recent xbox 360 kinect release date they would see a line that was full of people of all ages and the game systems were to be played by everyone in the family from the youngest child all the way to the great grandparent who had come over for a holiday dinner and found themselves caught up in the excitement of game play.
In the past there was generally one type of gamer. That was the hardcore enthusiast. The hardcore gamer played the games a lot. Video games became the central part of their life and affected anything else they did. Today’s gamers are often casual gamers. People are not always concerned about reaching a new level and have lost the total obsession about gaming. Parents no longer have to pry the remotes out of hands at the end of the day. They want games that they can pick up and play without being an expert. If they do not play a game they are okay and find other ways to fill their time. Video games do not have the central role of a person’s life but rather become just one facet of their personality.
It is not easy to know whether a person is a gaming enthusiast or not by looking at them. A gamer can be just about anyone and you might guess wrong if you try to guess. A person is much more likely to be involved in video games than ever before. Almost every home has a console of some type. And most of the people in the home have played a game on it at some point.
It can be fun to try to picture the typical gamer. If you ask ten people what they think it is you will get ten different answers. That has been the biggest change in gaming through the years. Maybe someone will make a video game that helps pick out the person who plays them.
