Exercise And Video Gaming
It is nothing new for people to use video to help teach them how to exercise. In recent years video games have also been helping people workout. There are many ways that they do this and with the recent addition of motion gaming, it is growing in popularity very quickly. Companies have discovered the fitness niche and are targeting it with games that are specifically for it. Celebrities are endorsing many of these titles. Besides the fitness titles that are on the market a person will also be able to get physical activity form many of the other games that are designed for the systems.
The one problem with the old video game systems and their attempts at blending video games and exercise is that they either lacked a truly massive audience. Many are also targeting only people that are consciously looking to beef up their exercise regimen with video games in mind. Today’s game systems have altered the landscape because of the movement that they require. Originally people only had the Nintendo Wii for motion gaming, but now Xbox has added their kinect and there is also the Playstation Move, and all of these use some type of control that allows a person’s movements to be tracked and that motion is then shown on the screen as the player becomes an interactive participant in the game.
The new consoles work by having a camera or something similar to that is placed on somewhere around the TV. As a person moves around in front of the screen, the moves are translated into actions in the game. A person can actually work up a sweat as they play. Movement is always good for a person’s health and these games promote movement by the players. Games of the past created a couch potato type of atmosphere. Gaming is now interactive. A person will always be better off if they are getting some exercise even if it is only the kind they get from playing a video game. However a person can get exercise will be a benefit to their health. There is not such a thing as too much physical activity.
There is no denying the positive effect of the new gaming consoles. The problem of obesity is well known in this country. Using a video game is one way to fight the problem. Getting fit while playing a game is something that can excite the user. There are plenty of people who are excited to use this format to get fit. Playing games and exercising at the same time is definitely a good thing. Although it seems to make sense it is difficult to prove that playing these platforms will guarantee a person can get fit and trim. But it is safe to say that anyone who gets regular physical activity will be healthier than someone who does not get any. People are playing games differently because of the advances in technology. And it has created a whole new group of people to play them.
Anyone can get started playing video games no matter if they are young or old because all they have to do is to go to the store and pick up one of the consoles or check out the internet and try to find out xbox 360 kinect, and then bring the system home, plug it into the television and begin moving around to find out how much fun the new style of motion gaming can be. The people who are playing these new consoles are more a part of mainstream society than they were before. The truth is there are more gamers than there are non gamers.
