Playing Games For A Party
We recently welcomed a new teenager into our home. As his birthday approached, we tossed around many ideas for a party before deciding on one. We would have a video game party. The key to the celebration was to go as extreme as we could and we would do our best to accomplish that.
The first thing we would need was going to be some video game platforms, and it was not going to be good enough to only have one, we would have to get a Nintendo Wii, an Xbox 360 Kinect and a Playstation move along with a variety of games for the kids to play and some televisions for them to play on.
Getting something to play the games and the systems to play them on was fairly simple. It turned out to be more difficult than I thought. We already had the Wii. I contacted a video game store and asked them if they had the systems to rent and found out they did not have the Xbox Kinect because it was to new and since the Xbox 360 Kinect release date had just passed it would be a while for them to start renting them but they did have titles available for all three of the platforms and it would just be a matter of finding a store that had the titles that I wanted. We did not let that stop us from getting all three platforms. We decided to talk to some of my son’s friends and borrow the platforms from them.
We needed to add a few more screens to our home to complete the game platforms. Fortunately our home was already equipped with a big lat panel TV and we also had a decent size TV available for another console. There was room for one television that would outdo them all. We were able to lease a television that was bigger than I ever imagined, seventy-three inches, and it was delivered before the party. We had to lease the television for at least thirty days because of the policies of the rental company. It made watching television that month a whole new experience for the entire family. My wife hated the idea, but it had to be done.
As the party approached we got everything set up. We rented some games form the video store that included some very popular titles. My son told the kids who he invited to bring any games or accessories that they wanted. We found that we also had some older platforms and games to play with too. We set up everything that we had that had anything to do with video games. We did not have a shortage of things for a kid to do.
I never expected to see the wide array of gaming accessories that the people carried through the door of our home. It was mind boggling to me that you could buy some of these things. I think we would have been able to open our own store with all of the stuff. The kids also had no shortage of different titles that they gathered from their own collections. I figured that the party would last all night and these kids would probably not get much sleep.
I gave up at some point in the party. The kid’s did. They played games the entire night. As I cooked some food, they were still playing. When we returned the teenagers to their parents, I am sure that they looked very tired for the rest of the day. In the end we were able to accomplish what we wanted to.
