How Motion Gaming Changed My Body
I am working towards my college degree. For one of my classes I was going to have to do something and write about the results I got. The project involved making a major change in your life and the impact it has. Most of my classmates were going to research the effect of what happened to others. Researching this way was easy because it was about someone else. I wanted to do something different than that. Rather than get someone else’s opinion, I would undergo a transformation myself. I had to figure out the way that I should change my life.
Most of my life I have been on the heavier side. My life consisted of studying and going out with my friends and this is not conducive to a healthy body. Being overweight gave me the perfect opportunity to make a change that I could write my paper about. It was time for me to make the right choices to get fit and trim.
I had a topic, but I still needed to find out how to reach my goals. I was going to do it in a new way that many people tout and that is through the use of video games that involve motion control like the xbox 360 kinect or the Nintendo Wii, or the Playstation Move that seem to have become commonplace in just about anyone who has a children now have in their home and has become popular with people of all ages.
I decided to see how much help a video game could really give me. In order for me understand what was going on, I would track my progress in a journal that could be turned in at the end of the class. I had most of the year to get the results before the paper was due. It was not enough time to get a perfect body, but it should do something. I could not imagine all of the good things that would happen to me.
I found a fitness game for my system and started the program. With the help of a little technology I was able to take before, during and after pictures along with the recording the other changes I was undergoing. Another part that I took into consideration was the food choices that I should make. Making those changes in the environment I was in was not as difficult as I though it would be. It was all a matter of looking in the right places. The key was knowing what to put in my body and what I should avoid. One thing I knew that would have to change is the amount of partying that I would do, but this turned out to be a blessing because it created more time for me to start using the kinect system that I had on a regular basis because I was not either hanging out with friends in a bar or sleeping off the effects of those late nights.
Over time my body started to change. I noticed that my waist size was getting smaller. My body seemed to be more alive. But there were other things happening. I noticed that people were looking at me differently. I found myself stepping out into areas that I avoided before. There were plenty of people who also cared about who they look and befriended me. I was meeting more girls than ever before. I had the confidence with females that I never dreamed of. It was good to know that both sexes liked playing the motion games. My project was a complete success. My work was as good as my body and I got an A.
