Using the Video Snapshot mode you can even create a highlight reel of 4 second clips and edit in background music from a cd that comes in the box. The average battery life for the camera is about 1.5 hours. This will suit most people's wants unless you want to shoot for hours at a time. Longer shots can be accomplished by purchasing additional batteries from Canon that may double or perhaps triple the recording times.
The real stumbling block for me with this camera is the video quality. The features are very good and simple to utilise. Even if they were difficult to use, I think I would be really pressed to find a camera with video as fantastic as the HF200. Competitors have tried to form video that is as good as Canon's, but this far I haven't seen anything come close. And since it uses an SD card, you can simply transfer video from the camera to your computer in a snap.
Costing around about $1249, it is a costlier camera, but the video quality and features certainly make it worth it. Less Expensive competitor cameras have not even come close to the HF200 vis video quality or features. Canon has a real win with this product as they have created one of the finest HD video recorders available.
