About Video Game Addictions
An addictive personality disorder may be the main reason for addiction to games. The life of a person becomes unbalanced if he is too immersed in a game to care about what happens in real life. One factor that contributes to the addiction may be the promise of a reward at the end of each game or level.
If we have to compare video gaming addictions to other addictions, we can say that it is most similar to gambling. Gambling addicts often go for days without rest to get a win from a slot machine or from any games inside the casino. The need to achieve something is similar in both gambling and gaming addicts. The addict wants more once he gets to the reward.
What are the symptoms? A person may be a gaming addict if he cannot stay away from a game. When a person disregards real life and cares more about his game than anything else, he is an addict. It's true that gamers hole themselves up for days just to finish a game. Lack of sleep may also be a recurring problem for gamers. Because the gamer is immersed into his game, he doesn’t consider other people important. More often than not, the games take precedence over family or friendships. A gamer would often forget what time it is, or what he needs to do that day.
Unlike drug addiction, there is no rehabilitation center for video game addicts. A good way to cure this is to go on a long vacation away from the games and other gaming gadgets. The long break may change his perspective. He may start to understand how much time he has lost
In conclusion, video game addictions is real and can happen to anyone if you are not careful.

Chapters: Hairspray, Hairspray, the Replacements, Sleepless in Seattle. Excerpt: Hairspray Hairspray is a 1988 comedy film written and directed by John Waters . The film starred Ricki Lake , Sonny Bono , Debbie Harry , and Divine . Hairspray was a dramatic departure from Waters' earlier works, with a much broader intended audience. In fact, Hairspray's PG is the mildest rating a Waters film has received; most of his previous films were rated X by the MPAA . Set in 1962 Baltimore, Maryland , the film revolves around self-proclaimed "pleasantly plump" teenager Tracy Turnblad as she simultaneously pursues stardom as a dancer on a local TV show and rallies against racial segregation . Hairspray was only a moderate success upon its initial theatrical release, earning a modest gross of $8 million. However, it managed to attract a larger audience on home video in the early 1990s and became a cult classic . Most critics praised the film, although some were displeased with the overall campiness . In 2002, Hairspray was adapted into a Broadway musical of the same name , which won eight Tony Awards , including Best Musical in 2003. A second film version of Hairspray , an adaptation of the stage musical, was released by New Line Cinema on July 20, 2007; which included many changes of scripted items from the original. The film also ranks 444th on Empire magazine 's 2008 list of the 500 greatest movies of all time. Plot Tracy Turnblad (Ricki Lake ) and her best friend, Penny Pingleton (Leslie Ann Powers ), audition for The Corny Collins Show , a popular Baltimore teenage dance show based on the real-life Buddy Deane Show . Despite being overweight, Tracy becomes a regular on the show, infuriating the show's reigning queen, Amber Von Tussle (Colleen Fitzpatrick ), a privileged, beautiful high |

''The way these people can just listen!'': Inquiries about the Mahler tradition in the Concertgebouw. $49.99 This study addresses the presumable distinct, auratic quality that performances of symphonies by Gustav Mahler in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw seem to have, a phenomenon also referred to as the Concertgebouw's Mahler tradition. Are these performances indeed in high demand and experienced more intensely than other performances in the Concertgebouw, and, if so, why? And what kinds of audiences attend these events and for what reasons?;The author approaches the typical Mahler performance as a ritual in which a wide range of contextual factors is at play and in which different values can be enacted by the participants. The typical Mahler performance is studied from four perspectives: (1) the history of the person of Mahler in the Concertgebouw and the tradition that was built around the composer and performances of his works, particularly by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra; (2) the role of Mahler in the present-day programming of the hall, audience types attending these performances, and the space of the Main Hall; (3) verbal and non-verbal audience responses to performances of symphonies by both Mahler and Bruckner, presented on the basis of online questionnaires and video footage of audience members listening to the symphonies; (4) the event of the Mahler performance as analyzed using concepts from the field of ritual theory.;The conclusion of the study is that performances of Mahler's symphonies are highly effective in the Concertgebouw due to the historical, symbolic, and spatial contexts in which they take place. Mahler plays an important role in the history of the Concertgebouw and is acknowledged as such by numerous signs inside the hall. The acoustics of the Main Hall are considered the most favorable in the world for late romantic music, and the hall is visually well suited for ritual experiences. Patrons are relatively familiar with Mahler's repertoire and they like performances of his symphonies significantly better than those of Bruckner symphonies in many |
